Day 01: Arrival in Tunisia
You will be met by your guide and transferred to the hotel on arrival at Tunis, the capital of Tunisia. You will visit the historic Medina of Tunis when you arrive early.
The Old Medina and the Souk Tunisian market are the traditional Tunisian market.
You can travel across narrow streets and alleys to local craftsmen such as copper and leather and wool workers and sophisticated tapestries. The famous Zitouna Mosque is also accessible.
Day 02: Bardo/Carthage/Sidi Bou Said
Look at the Bardo Museum after breakfast. A vast collection of important Roman mosaics is in this museum. In this world-class institution there are numerous rooms offering objects from the Punic to the Islamic period. You will not want to miss this one museum!
We visit Carthage, once the largest ancient cities in northern Africa, in the afternoon, the ancient archeological site. The Punics, Romans, Vandals and Byzantines all claimed this place sometime in time. This place has ruins from several eras. After that, we continue towards Sidi Bou Said, a small village built up on the Mediterranean Sea and around several hills. We will explore its wondrous paved roads and spectacular views of the sea.
Day 03: Tunis/Dougga/Makthar/Kairouan :
You will visit Dougga, the archeological site of the Romans after breakfast. This huge site is one of Tunisia’s best preserved Roman ruins and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The site overlooks the large areas around it and the locals herd their flock in the Roman ruins are not unusual.
Continue to Makthar’s Roman site. Here is the Roman Forum, the Ark of Trajan, the Vandal Church and more. You will then travel to Kairouan, the major Islamic city. There is going to be dinner in the hotel.
Day 4: Kairouan/Sbeitla/Tozeur :
The Grand Mosque Okba Ibn Nafaa and Mohammed’s mausoleum will be visited this morning. Then you may want to visit a tapestry workshop where you can see, admire, and learn about this unbelievable craft. There is an old medina with winding streets worth visiting! After your visit to Sbeitla you will visit the Ark of Diocletia with numerous mosaics, churches, baptisteries, temples. Do not forget to visit the museum for some time. When you finish your trip to Tozeur. Dinner is on the premises
Day 05: Chebika/Tamerza/ Mides trecking /Ong Jemel/Tozeur :
Early in the morning, visit Chebika, a lovely mountainous oasis village. Chebika was formerly a Roman outpost, but later became a Berber mountain shelter. The spring of the mountain Oasis can be reached through the Chebeka canyon. The largest mountain oasis in Tunisia, the Chebika is the Tamerza River. Then, go to Mides and take a nice panoramic view of the canyon 2 hours downstream of the canyon. The canyon was used to film Lost Ark and The English Patient’s raiders. For lunch back to Tozeur.
Explore the camel’s neck ®, the Ong Jemel, in the afternoon. Visit the Sahara Dunes and Star Wars Mos Espa Film Place through untouched land. Back to Tozeur for dinner and night.
Day 06: Tozeur/El Jem/Sousse :
From El Jem in the morning. This city has one of the best conservations in the world, the Roman Coliseum. It was built from 230 to 238 AD, with between 30 000 to 45 000 spectators supposedly at a time. Take time to explore this huge structure and do not forget to visit the rooms where the gladiators were waiting for their next fight. In the city there is a museum which contains many mosaics. You might like to visit the archeological museum and medina if time stays for the day. There is going to be dinner in the hotel.
Day 07: Sousse/ ZAGOUAN ZRIBA TREK Hammamet :
You will then visit Zaguouan for trekking and the coastal towns after breakfast.
Of the sandy white Hammamet beaches, crystalline blue sea water and lovely gardens.
Day 08: Tunis/ Departure:
After breakfast, an unforgettable tour of Explore Tunisia will take you to the airport for your departure.
